Level 2 Hustle

Wednesdays April 22 - May 13, 6-7pm
at Sapphire Ballroom on Main Street in downtown Christiansburg

A group of our wonderful Friday-nighters has banded together to create a Level 2 class in 4-Count Hustle. And you're invited to join in!

Group Classes give you the chance to work on one dance style week after week, beyond what you can get at a Friday Beginner Workshop. This class will take that fun, friendly dance to a new level (literally). You need to have basic understanding of beginning Hustle (details below) before joining this class.

How is a group class different from a workshop? At Sapphire, we consider a group class to be a multiweek commitment. You sign up for 4 lessons (usually once a week) and the same people attend each week. Which means we can review material from previous weeks without starting from scratch. Also, Sapphire provides a syllabus with the names of the moves you will learn in that class along with space to take notes. Unfortunately, group classes lose the flexibility that we enjoy with workshops. You can't just pop in whenever you're free the way you can with the Friday Beginner Workshops.

What do you need to know? To take this class, you do need to have some prior experience with Hustle. You should be able to dance entire songs, comfortably, and at various speeds. You should be able to dance Inside Turn. Outside Turn, Belt Turn, How to get into Cape Position. It's ok if you haven't mastered these moves, as long as you can get through them with a little confidence.

Do you want to form a group class in your favorite dance? 5 people make a group class. That's all it takes. We will give it try with 4 people. So you need to recruit some friends and committ to a series of four weeks. We will provide a teacher, the space, and make it happen. Get in touch and we'll get the ball rolling!
