The lesson listing is updated about once a month, unless something unexpected happens. If you see less than a week's worth of several types of events, an update should be on its way.
Our typical schedule includes Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dancing on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, What's Next Classes and Workshops (not for beginners) on Mondays, and (seasonally) 4-Hour Group Classes on various week nights.

High Dive into American Waltz, Tango, & Fox Trot
Getting More Bang Waltz, Tango, and Fox Trot Deep Dive Workshop
Monday, July 21, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Take the plunge and learn more, more, more fabulous cross-over moves in Waltz, Tango, and Fox Trot. This is it - as challenging as we're going to get in this series. You've trained for this; you're ready.
Location: Sapphire Studio
Price: $21/person in-studio for one hour and a half workshop
$32/person in-studio for both July Deep Dives.

Prerequisite: Participants should either know 10-15 moves in American Tango (including multiple partner positions and rhythms) and either American Waltz or Fox Trot, or have attended the previous workshop.

I Just Want to Dance with You
East Coast Swing Friday Beginner Workshop
Friday, July 25, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Always wanted to learn to dance but didn't know where to start? Swing is your friend. Country, blues, rock, metal, pop, hip hop - they all have Swings! It works beautifully to such a large variety of music that we try to teach it to random people on the street.
Missed last week? No problem! Each week we teach a 40-50 minute lesson, starting with the absolute basics in a fun, popular dance style. And then, finish off the hour with a little taste of another style that will be on the schedule later in the season.
It makes an awesome #DateNight, #ParentsNightOut, or an evening of #FunWithFriends.
Location: Sapphire Studio (downtown Christiansburg) and online

Next Level Line Dance
Y'all ready for this? Line Dance Line Dance Workshop
Monday, August 4, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
So you've danced around the walls a time or two and you're ready for more? Awesome. We'd love to have you! The dances taught on Monday nights tend to have a larger variety of figures, rhythms, and more complicated transitions than beginner line dances (taught on Tuesdays), so be prepared to battle wall-nesia and get your feet tangled on the path to ALD success. But the result will be worth it, without doubt.
Location: Sapphire Studio
Price: $14/person in-studio.

Prerequisite: Dancers participating in these ALD workshops should be comfortable dancing common Line Dance figures including vines, turns, triple steps, and more, prepared to dance fast, and be challenged.

Exercises to Improve Balance
Technique What's Next Workshop
Monday, August 4, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This exercise class is specifically geared towards improving your balance while dancing. Of course, that also means improving your balance while standing and walking, which really can't be a bad thing. You will sweat; you may be sore; you will probably complain (we all do); but we keep coming back for more.
Location: Sapphire Studio (downtown Christiansburg) and online
Price: $14/person in-studio or $9/person online.

Beginner Line Dancing
#GetUpAndBoogie Line Dance Line Dance Workshop
Tuesday, August 5, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Seriously - you need to get up and boogie! Combine awesome music with expert instruction and you've got a beginner-friendly workshop that will get you moving in no time. Each BLD workshop features an exciting combination of ultra beginner and slightly more challenging dances, giving you the chance to get your feet under you and then challenge yourself to do more. Easiest dances are taught at the beginning of the evening, more challenging dances towards the end, with a bit of social dancing and practice time in between. So, if you've never done this before, come early!

Night Groove
Rumba Dance Party
Saturday, August 9, 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Feeling the Rhythm of the Night? Feel like Dancing in the Moonlight? We're throwing a Midsummer-night-themed Dance Party that's going to be unforgettable, and we'd love for you to join us.
We’ll be starting the evening with a Rumba lesson (7-8pm)- great for beginners and still exciting for advanced dancers. Come sway under the stars and light up the dance floor with us. No experience or partner necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and your dancing shoes!
Join fellow dancers, young, old, experienced, and shiny new for an evening of good food, good friends, good times, great music, and incredible dancing. Bring a snack to share and earn our eternal appreciation.

Prerequisite: While everyone is welcome, Dance Parties are intended for those who have already taken a few lessons - Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dance Classes, or private lessons. If you know at least a step or two in a dance style, you'll be able to pick up more at the party.
No one dances to all the music at a dance party, so don't worry if you don't know much. Watching can be fun and so can meeting other Sapphire students! The pre-dance lesson begins beginner but progresses to something shiny and cool.

Historic Dance (in casual clothes)
Historic Dance (English Country Dance) Workshop
Tuesday, August 12, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Join the English Country Dancers of the New River Valley Historic Dance Society as we laugh, dance, and enjoy each other's company while learning dance new to us, but old as the 13 Colonies. This is the dancing you find in Pride and Prejudice, that George Washington did on vacation, and that evolved into modern Contra and Square dancing.
Beginners, groups, singles, and families are always welcome. Every dance will be taught by being broken down into simple components and cued while dancing. If you can walk, you can dance, and we'd love to have you join the set.

Price: This workshop is free, but a donation jar will be out during the dancing, if you feel like adding a couple of dollars. .
